Stability and longevity depends on adherence to CMP Friday, September 2 2005 18:52 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Chennai:
Ridiculing former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee's remarks that there would be snap polls to the Lok Sabha, the Communist Party of India (CPI) today (Sept 2, 2005) said the stability and longevity of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Center depended on its strict adherence to the Common Minimum Programme and its implementation.
CPI National Secretary D Raja told reporters here that the 'crisis ridden' Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was attempting to create a fallacy that there was instability at the center.
"BJP is facing deep ideological, political and organizational crisis within and it is still not able to accept the reality that it has been rejected by the people," he said.
Terming BJP as the political arm of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), he said "It
is also now evident that it is RSS that is directing the BJP."
Deriding the BJP for taking a contradictory stand on the women's reservation bill, the CPI leader said in the absence of a consensus among political parties, the Government should
bring in the bill and allow all the parties to have a say in Parliament.
"If parties have objections, then let them speak in Parliament. Let the country know."
Welcoming the stand of the Dravida Munnetra Khazhagam (DMK) on the issue, he said theviews of his party and that of DMK were 'more or less similar.'
