Kurien barred Reddy into IRMA; seeks police help Friday, September 2 2005 17:05 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Ahmedabad:
After the Gujarat High Court termed the sacking of director of Institute of Rural Management (IRMA) K P Reddy by its chairman Verghese Kurien as 'null and void', Reddy today (Sept 2, 2005) alleged that he was physically barred from entering his own office and that he had sought police help in this regard.
He said he was also planning to move the high court for intervention as he was still not (not) allowed despite the courts order to do so.
A senior official of IRMA and personal assistant to Kurien when contacted said Reddy was denied entry because his term expired on September one and therefore he was
relieved of his duties.
Reddy said, "I entered the campus but was not (not) allowed to enter my office (the director's chamber) by the guard and was told by the guard that the Chairman had said
that the institute did not recognize me as the director," Reddy who plans to move the High Court, told sources.
He said that he even approached the police and showed them the court order wherein his case was upheld.
"I have told police to help me in this and will also approach the high court to intervene", Reddy said.
The High Court had on August 30 termed the sacking of Reddy as 'null and void'.
