TRS opposes AP Government's ban on naxals in state
Friday, September 2 2005 11:49 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Congress' ally Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) last night (September 1, 2005) opposed Andhra Pradesh Government's ban on naxals in the state saying this was not the 'right' step in a democratic set-up.

Asked about the ban imposed by Y S Rajasekhara Reddy Government, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao said, "This is not the right step. In a democratic set-up, a democratic Government should not adopt such a measure."

The naxal problem, he said, could be solved by eliminating poverty and by carrying the fruits of development to adivasis and Dalits.

"We have been saying this for the last eight years," Rao said.
