Appreciating India's offer of help to victims of Katrina hurricane disaster, the US yesterday (Sept 5, 2005) said officials of its embassy here were working with their Indian counterparts on the administrative and logistical details to ensure the speedy delivery of any needed supplies.
US Ambassador David C Mulford met Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran here to convey the appreciation of President George W Bush and the American people for India's 'gracious offers of assistance' to the victims of Katrina disaster.
The US government has accepted the Indian government's offer of USD 5 million to the American Red Cross for use in disaster relief in the wake of the hurricane, a US embassy
statement said here.
Quoting Mulford, it said India's offer to send medical team, water treatment units, medical supplies and public health officers is being actively considered by the US disaster management officials.
He said the Embassy officials are working with their Indian counterparts on the administrative and logistical details to ensure the expedited delivery of any needed
supplies.
