President Viktor Yushchenko sacks Ukraine Govt

Kiev: President Viktor Yushchenko has dismissed the Ukrainian Government and appointed a senior regional official from the east of the country as acting Prime Minister, the President's office said in a statement today (Sept 8, 2005).

"President Viktor Yushchenko has announced that he will dismiss the entire Government and the Secretary of the National Security Council," said the statement.

Yury Yekhanurov, the head of the Eastern Dniepropetrovsk region, has been appointed as acting Prime Minister, the statement said.
