Security forces foil infiltration bid along the LoC

Jammu: Three militants were killed by security forces as they foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

Acting on a tip off about possible infiltration, army troops set up ambushes along the LoC in Mendhar area of Poonch district last night (Sept 8, 2005).

A group of militants sneaked into Indian side in Balnoi forward area around 01:00 am. They were challenged by the waiting troops who killed three of them in a gun battle that lasted nearly three hours, the sources said.

The recoveries from the spot included three AK rilfes, 13 magazines, 18 hand grenades, three radio sets, a pair of binoculars, dictaphone among other things, they said.
