Justice Kabir, Raveendran sworn in as SC judges

New Delhi: Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Altamas Kabir and Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court R V Raveendran were today (Sept 9, 2005) sworn as judges of the Supreme Court.

The oath of office was administered at a simple ceremony by Chief Justice of India R C Lahoti in his court. With this the strength of judges in the apex Court rose to 24 as against the sanctioned strength of 26.

57-year old Justice Kabir will have tenure of eight years in the apex Court whereas Justice Raveendran would have tenure of six years.

The retirement age of judges of apex Court is 65 years.

The swearing in ceremony was attended by the judges of the Supreme Court, senior advocates and advocates.
