3 army men killed in an ambush by militants in J&K

Srinagar: Three army personnel were killed and two others injured today (Sept 10, 2005) in an ambush laid by militants in Avantipur area of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

Militants, who were waiting in ambush, fired at the passing army convoy at around 9:30 a.m., the sources said, adding three jawans were killed on the spot and two were injured.

The area has been cordoned off and traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar highway has been suspended, they added.
