Siddaramaiah raps Gowda for 'mocking' AHINDA
Saturday, September 10 2005 14:30 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Bangalore: Charging Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) supremo H D Deve Gowda of taking 'unilateral, vindictive and unreasonable' actions against him, former Deputy Chief Minister and rebel Siddaramaiah today (Sept 10, 2005) took a dig at him for 'mocking' at the Backward Classes, Dalits and Minorities movement.

"The former Prime Minister is making incoherent statements laced with sarcasm on the AHINDA (Minorities, Backward Classes and Dalits)", he alleged at a meet the press programme organised by the Bangalore Reporters' Guild (BRG).

"The remarks by Gowda that Siddaramaiah has opened his eyes through these conventions demonstrated that the JDS chief had no concern to these oppressed sections and started thinking about them only now", Siddaramiah, whom Gowda got sacked from legislature wing and the ministry recently, said.

He said he has convened a conclave of JDS office bearers, legislators, MPs, district unit chiefs, Panchayat heads and defeated candidates on September 30 here to discuss the drift the party has suffered in recent days in the wake of what he called 'undemocratic' acts of Gowda, to decide on his future plans.

Siddaramaiah said commencing from November he would embark upon a statewide tour to inform the people of the 'undemocratic' decisions of Gowda.

Linking his 'unceremonious' removal from the party and also the coalition government to the 'insecurity' that haunted Gowda that he (Siddaramaiah) would be a stumbling block for the political advances of his two sons, Siddaramaiah asserted, "there is no cause other than this".

There are no ideological differences between JDS programme and AHINDA, he said.

Siddaramaiah, who has been claiming that he headed the 'real JDS', however, refused to resort to legal course to maintain control over the party and declared, "I will go to people's court".

There are thousands of party men in the state who supported him, he claimed, adding that, the developments in state unit had been informed to national leaders like Madu Dandavate, Surendra Mohan and Bapu Kaldate.

He demanded that Gowda come out with the reasons that prompted him to remove him from the party post and also from the ministry, maintaining that "the reasons given by Gowda are unjustifiable and allegations made against me are baseless".

Siddaramaiah dismissed Gowda's charge that AHIND was paving way for caste clash in the state, asserting that the movement will only lead to class clash and not caste clash.

Gowda was trying to mislead people on AHIND movement, he alleged and announced that another rally will be held in Hassan on September 26.
