K'taka: BJP leader demands white paper on dev. prog Saturday, September 10 2005 20:09 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Hubli:
Charging that the Congress-JDS coalition Government has neglected relief works in flood affected areas, opposition BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly B S Yediyurappa today (Sep 10, 2005) demanded a "white paper" on the development programmes being implemented in the state.
Rural development activities had come to standstill and the state's progress had come to a naught, he alleged at a press conference here (Hubli).
"JDS chief H D Devegowda is playing politics with people of Karnataka and not doing any thing for the state", Yediyurappa alleged.
Pointing out that Maharashtra received more funds from the Centre for flood relief than Karnataka, which just managed to get Rs 400 crore, he urged the Centre to sanction Rs 1000 crore immediate assistance for flood relief works in the state.
The BJP leader alleged that the Government had not come to the rescue of people of North Karnataka, the worst affected by the floods.
BJP is ready for elections if the coalition Government wants it", he said in reply to query.
