'Revoking POTA drawn from vote-bank politics'
Sunday, September 11 2005 15:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Neemuch (MP): Lashing out at the Centre for revoking Prevention Of Terrorism Act (POTA), BJP President L K Advani today (Sept 11, 2005) said the move by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government was drawn from 'vote-bank politics.'

"The previous National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government at the Centre had brought in POTA to keep terrorism under check. The UPA government's move to revoke it was drawn from vote-bank politics," Advani told reporters at the airport here.

Notion of western countries that they were immune from terrorists was shattered with the attack at the World Trade Centre four years ago, he said.

No country is safe from terrorism, which has become a global problem and effective strategy should be evolved to deal with it, he added.
