Khurana receives expulsion letter from the party Sunday, September 11 2005 12:44 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Sacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Madan Lal Khurana today (Sept 11, 2005) said he has been handed over the letter of expulsion from the party, deepening the crisis over the stands taken by party seniors over his ouster.
"The letter is dated September 8 and I received it last night (September 10)," Khurana told reporters in New Delhi after an hour and a half long meeting with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
"It is very unfortunate that despite Vajpayee's intervention, I was handed over the letter last night. This shows that one section of the of BJP is conspiring against me and trying to create a divide within BJP," the former Delhi Chief Minister said.
Refering to Vajpayee's statement, a few days ago, that Khurana be given a chance to explain his position, he said, "BJP leaders have ignored Vajpayee's plea. I have full
faith in Atalji."
"If the letter was withheld for two days, it could have been held back further," he said.
