Jain remands to police custody till Sept 16
Sunday, September 11 2005 15:21 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: Aspiring Bollywood actress Preeti Jain, arrested for allegedly giving a 'supari' (contract) to underworld don Arun Gawli to eliminate film-maker Madhur Bhandarkar, was today (Sept 11, 2005) remanded to police custody till September 16.

Jain, who was arrested yesterday (Sept 10, 2005) , was produced before the metropolitan magistrate's court in Mazgaon.

In the remand application, police have sought Preeti's narco-analysis and brain-mapping tests, police sources said.

Jain's lawyers said she had gone to Gawli's residence to urge him to raise the issue of her earlier allegations of rape by Bhandarkar in the Maharashtra assembly, of which Gawli is a member.

Police said Preeti had allegedly given a 'supari' to Gawli's aide to kill Bhandarkar.

The matter came to the notice of police when a functionary of Gawli's political outfit Akhil Bharatiya Sena advocate Bagawe lodged a complaint at Agripada police station in central Mumbai last week, baring the plot, police said.
