President A P J Abdul Kalam arrived in today (Sept 12, 20O5) for several engagements, including inauguration of a health seminar 'Global Forum for Health Research: Forum 9'.
Kalam, who arrived at 1.35 pm, was received at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport by Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, Minister of State for Protocol Rana Jagajit Singh Patil among others, official sources said.
The President would first go to state guesthouse 'Sahyadri', in south Mumbai, where the state officials would present a detailed paper on Mumbai floods, relief and rehabilitation from 2.15 to 3 00 pm, Raj Bhavan sources said.
After that, Kalam will visit the renowned cartoonist R K Laxman at his residence in Breach Candy in south Mumbai and then, inaugurate the diamond jubilee celebrations of Sri Rajrajeswari Bharatha Natya Kala Mandir, the sources said.
Kalam would be the chief guest at the inaugural function of 'Global Forum for Health Research: Forum 9' in the evening before leaving for Delhi around 8 pm, the sources added.
