Naxalites kill 15 villagers, 6 injured in Jharkhand

Giridih (Jharkhand): Fifteen villagers were killed and six others injured in an attack by Naxalites at Bhelbadari village in Giridih district, about 200 km from Ranchi, Deputy Inspector General of Police Neeraj Sinha said today (Sept 12, 2005).

Over a 100 armed Naxalites raided the village near Bhinwaghati under Deuri police station late yesterday (Sept 11, 2005) night and attacked the villagers, Sinha said.

Top police officials with adequate security forces have rushed to the spot and details will be known only after they reach the spot, he added.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Bhageshwar Jha said six other villagers also suffered injuries in the attack and added the exact figure of the casualties could be known after reaching the site of the massacre.
