Sankararaman murder case adjourned to Oct 7 Monday, September 12 2005 18:42 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

A local court today (Sept 12, 2005) adjourned the Sankararaman murder case, in which the Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi and his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi are the main accused, to October 7.
On September 5, the Sessions Judge, G M Akbar Ali, had adjourned the case to today, to verify the Supreme Court order, which directed the court not to proceed with framing of
charges till October 4.
The Seers, who are at Tirupati observing Chaturmasya Sankalpam (a period of puja and austerities), were not present when the case was taken up while the other 22 accused including Kanchi Mutt Manager, Sundaresa Iyer, and Raghu, brother of the junior seer, were present.
A copy of the Supreme Court order condoning the Seers' absence on account of the austerities was shown to the judge by the Defence Counsel.
The Prosecution informed the Judge that they were in receipt of the copy of the order deferring framing of charges in the case till October 4 when the Apex court is take up for hearing the Seers plea to transfer the case outside Tamil Nadu.
The judge then adjourned further proceedings till October seven.
The case relates to the September 3 last murder of Sankararaman, a temple official.
