I only expressed regrets, not apologised: Khurana
Tuesday, September 13 2005 18:24 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: A day after his expulsion from the party, the issue was revoked following his letter of 'apology' to L K Advani in which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Madan Lal Khurana today (Sept 13, 2005) said he had only expressed 'regrets' and not 'apologised.'

"Maine maafi nahi mangi hai, khali khed vyakt kiya hai (I have not apologised but only expressed regrets)," the Delhi BJP strongman told PTI after meeting former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

He said party General Secretary Pramod Mahajan had also used the same language but the media had misconstrued it.

On his meeting with Vajpayee, Khurana said he had gone to his residence to express thanks for his intervention in the matter relating to his expulsion.

Khurana was suspended on August 20, 2005 and then expelled on September 7, 2005 for attacking the leadership of BJP President L K Advani.

His expulsion was revoked yesterday (Sept 12, 2005) after he wrote to Advani ostensibly tendering an 'apology' for his outburst against the party chief.
