Salem: Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala and Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi will be participating in the fifth convocation of Periyar University, at Omalur, about 15-kms from here, on September 17.

Briefing newsmen about the visit, District Collector A Sukumaran, said the Karnataka Governor would also be visiting the famous Namakkal Anjaneyar temple and offer his worship.

After participating in the convocation, the Karnataka Governor is also likely to visit Yercaud, a nearby hill station, he said.

A total of 1500 students, mostly from Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal and Krishnagiri districts are to get their certificates and medals, he said.
