K'taka IT Sec slams IT industry for raising chaos Thursday, September 15 2005 16:14 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Karnataka's Information technology Secretary M K Shankaralinge Gowda today slammed the IT industry for making a hue and cry over Banglore's infrastructure woes, saying it's the intellectual capital that's driving the tech sector and 'not road, water and ambience'.
The strides made by the city in the IT sector are because of its intellectual capital and input. "It (IT sector) has grown despite all this (road, water and ambience)", Gowda told
the Infovision 2005, a two-day information industry-academia summit that commenced here today (Sept 15, 2005).
Karnataka Government has come under increasing criticism from the IT industry, which has accused it of being indifferent to infrastructural problems, especially roads
which are in bad shape in many parts of the city.
About 400 delegates from the industry, universities, publishing houses as well as content providers are attending the event, jointly organized by the International Institute of
Information Technology Bangalore and Informatics India Ltd.
Prof. Ronald Larsen, Dean of School of Information Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, USA, and Prof. Nick Moore, Chairman of the UK's Acumen Consulting shared their thoughts in key-note addresses at the inaugural function.
