Security officials of Bhutan, India meet in Hyderbad Thursday, September 15 2005 19:34 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Top security officials of India and Bhutan met in Hyderbad today (Sept 15, 2005) to review the border security scenario particularly in view of the growing activities of Maoists and deliberated on measures to prevent entry of ultra left extremists into Bhutan.
"So far, there is no Maoists infiltration into our territory. In today's meeting, we have discussed on how to stop them from entering our country," the Bhutan Secretary
(Home and Cultural Affairs) Dascho Penden Wangchuk told reporters here.
D K Sankaran, Secretary, Border Security Management in the Union Home Ministry, and Joint Secretary in Home Ministry H S Brahma and other officials were present at the Secretary level meeting of the Indo-Bhutan Border Security Management.
The Bhutanese official said his government's major offensive, in December 2003, against Indian insurgent groups operating in his country had yielded desired results.
"There is not even a single extremist camp operating in our country now," Wangchuk said.
He said India and Bhutan had been enjoying friendly relations and the present atmosphere would continue in future.
Earlier, the Bhutan delegation called on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and also visited the National Police Academy (NPA) on the city outskirts.
