BJP, Shiv Sena told to pay fine for calling bandh

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today (Sept 16, 2005) directed the Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to deposit Rs 20 Lakhs each within a week as fine, imposed on them for Mumbai Bandh called by them two years ago to protest against Ghatkopar Bomb blast.

The order to this effect was passed by a bench comprising Justice Y K Sabharwal, Justice C K Thakker and Justice R V Ravindran.

The amount has to be deposited with the Maharashtra Government, the court ruled.
