Tamil Nadu yesterday (Sept 16, 2005) agreed to carry out a survey of a border area in Hogenakkal forest area in the district on September 19, 2005 in the wake of a border dispute raised by the Karnataka Forest Department.
At a special joint meeting of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka officials held at Hogenakkal, 50 km from here, last evening the two sides decided that the Assistant Conservator of Forest of both the states would survey the disputed area with the help of geographical maps, Dharmapuri District Collector Sudeep Jain and Karnataka Conservator of Forests D A Venkatesh told reporters.
They said the survey was being carried out since some 'doubts' had been raised by the Karnataka forest officials over the border area construction made by Tamil Nadu.
Besides Jain and Venkatesh, the meeting was attended among others by Dharmapuri Superintendent of Police Jayaram, Regional Development officer R Prakasam, Conservator of Forest S Panneerselvam, District Forest Officer Venkatesulu on
Tamil Nadu side and District Forest Officer Kumar Bushkar, Deputy Conservator of forest Krishnappa and Assistant Conservator of forest Udayalumar.
