Clean chit to Salman Khan, Aishwarya in tape case Saturday, September 17 2005 10:42 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
In a respite to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, a voice sample test has given a clean chit to him holding that the voice in the audio tape played by television channels, threatening actress Aishwariya Rai and flaunting his underworld links, was not that of Khan.
The Central Forensic Science Laboratory at Chandigarh, which tested the voices in the controversial tapes, has opined that the voices did not match those of the two actors.
A report of the lab that reached Mumbai police two days ago said a computerised spectrometry test performed to match the voice samples of the actors and the voices in the tape did not match.
"We are satisfied with the findings of the report," Mumbai police said.
Salman's father and well known script writer Salim Khan said his family was 'very happy' with the findings.
The conversation in the tape had Khan allegedly threatening Rai to join a show organised abroad by the underworld, failing which she would have to face dire consequences.
As per the conversation, Salman was heard saying he also had prior knowledge of the 1992 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai.
Though the two actors denied they entered into any such kind of conversation, a controversy that erupted after the tapes were exposed prompted the Government to seek a voice sample test to establish veracity of the conversation.
