Three injured in violence during Ganesh immersion
Sunday, September 18 2005 09:42 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Vadodara: Three persons were injured, one of them seriously, when people belonging to two different communities threw stones at each other during a Ganesh immersion procession in the sensitive Moghulvada locality of Vadi area here last night (Sept 17, 2005), police said.

Some firing also took place at the spot but police were not confirming it.

The trouble started when some people, who were part of the procession, saw some men circulating leaflets on Lord Ganesha, Osama-bin-Laden and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim following which they threw stones at them, police said.

However, police said the situation in the area is under control and more than 3000 idols of Lord Ganesha were immersed in the Sursagar lake located in the heart of the city.
