Heavy rains lash coastal Orissa due to depression Sunday, September 18 2005 15:05 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Heavy rains pounded the coastal belt of Orissa for the second time this week under the influence of the new depression formed over the Bay of Bengal lay centered about 350 km south east of Balasore, the Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) said here today (Sept 18, 2005).
Reports from various places in the coastal districts said that intermittent rains were being experienced since last night while the capital city was lashed by heavy rains.
Strong wind was also experienced in the coastal areas.
The satellite imageries indicated that the depression over north east bay and adjoining north west bay moved slightly north west wards and lay centered last night about 350 km south east of Balasore.
Squally weather prevailed in most places.
The system was likely to intensify further and move in a west northwesterly direction, the sources said.
The CWC had also warned of heavy rains at isolated places yesterday (Sept 17, 2005).
