Ahmedabad:
Giving clear indication that it would not tolerate any dissident activities, Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) last night (Sept 18, 2005) suspended rebel MLA Ramilaben Desai, who had dashed off a letter to party President L K Advani alleging that Chief Minister Narendra Modi was conspiring against her life.
Desai has been suspended on charge of 'anti-party' activity, including sending the letter to the party President where she made the threat allegation, Gujarat BJP General Secretary Pursottam Rupala told PTI last night (Sept 18, 2005).
Desai has been given seven days time to reply to the party about her action and regarding the letter, Rupala said.
Desai, MLA from Kheralu constituency of Mehsana district, had recently written a letter alleging threat to life from Gujrat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and two of his cabinet ministers.
In her four-page letter, Desai had alleged that she feared Modi, Education Minister Anandiben Patel and state Home Minister Amit Shah would make her fate the same has that of former leader Haren Pandya, who was murdered on March 26, 2003.
Desai, who is of the Keshubhai Patel camp, had on September 12, 2005 threatened to self-immolate in the assembly premises after she felt 'insulted and neglected' by the Modi
Government.
