K'taka HC confirms death sentence on Shradhananda Monday, September 19 2005 11:54 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
A division bench of the Karnataka High Court today (Sept 19, 2005) confirmed the death sentence awarded to Shradhananda alias Murali Manohar Mishra by a lower court for murdering his wife Shakereh Khaleeli.
Justice S G Bannurmut and Justice A C Kabbin in their 150-page order confirmed the death sentence passed by a session court on May 21.
Shradhananda, who married Khaleeli, grand-daughter of former dewan of Mysore, Sir Mirja Ismail, had murdered her in 1991.
After committing the offence he had buried the body in her house portico.
The Police, who took up investigation into the case, arrested Shradhananda on March 29, 1994.
After the Session court passed death sentence, Shradhananda had challenged the verdict before the High Court.
