'Karunakaran committed a blunder by leaving Cong' Thursday, September 22 2005 15:05 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kozhikode:
Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) (DIC-K) leader, K Karunakaran, committed a 'historic blunder' by leaving the Congress with which he was associated for a long period and further aggravated it by aligning with Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) of which he had been a severe critic, Congress Working Committee (CWC) Member and former Kerala Chief Minister A K Antony, MP, said today (Sept 22, 2005).
'His decision to quit the Congress is a historic blunder. And now by joining hands with the Marxists (for the civic polls), whom he had earlier criticised very sharply, he has placed himself in a critical situation,' Antony told a meet-the-press programme, organised by the Calicut Press Club here.
Although Karunakaran was trying to justify his present stand by accusing the Congress, he said, "There is no doubt that he must be repenting for all his actions in his heart."
Stating that it was Karunakaran who triggered a strong anti-Marxist feeling in the minds of the people when he was leading the Congress earlier, Antony said the people would therefore not accept Karunakaran's 'unholy' alliance with the CPI(M) now.
