'Bihar poll outcome has no impact on UPA strength' Thursday, September 22 2005 16:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
The outcome of Bihar elections would have no bearing on the stability of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Center, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Ram Vilas Paswan said today (Sept 22, 2005).
The electoral fight is confined to the State of Bihar alone, he told reporters n Bangalore.
UPA has been formed to keep National Democratic Alliance (NDA) out of power. Bihar election outcome would not pose any problem for UPA, he maintained.
Paswan reiterated that he would never, ever support and go along with Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) before the polls or after.
He said a Muslim for Chief Ministership of Bihar from any party would not be acceptable to LJP this time, unlike last time around. The LJP has put up enough number of candidates from the Muslim community, he said.
Voicing confidence that LJP-led alliance would come to power in the State, Paswan said there will be a 'Muslim Chief Minister from LJP.'
He claimed that 'RJD is already finished' and that party would not win more than 40
seats.
Paswan said many people accuse of him of having forced another election on Bihar after no Government could be formed following a fractured verdict thrown up by the last polls.
He said he would take that 'responsibility' (blame).
'Elections are for betterment of the people; not for betterment of leaders,' he said.
LJP wants development of Bihar. Under the RJD rule in the last 15 years," the State was going to hell," Paswan said.
