Bihar urges CBI probe into Rajo Singh's killing Saturday, September 24 2005 14:04 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

The Bihar Government today (Sep 24, 2005) recommended to the Center an inquiry by CBI into the recent killing of senior Congress leader and former mp, Rajo Singh, Home Secretary H C Sirohi said.
We have recommended to the union home ministry a CBI probe into the case relating to the gruesome killing of Singh, Sirohi told sources in Patna.
Earlier, the proposal for approaching the Centre for an inquiry by the investigating agency was sent to Governor Buta Singh for approval, he said.
Leaders of different political parties, including those of Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (JD) United (U) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), had called for a CBI probe.
Shambu Yadav, son of a former district Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Kashinath Yadav had been arrested for the killing of the former mp by unidentified gunmen at the Congress party office at Sheikhpura on September Nine.
The Sheikhpura town police had registered fir against Ashok Chaudhary, a former Bihar minister in the Rabri Devi Government, district RJD president Lattu Yadav and five others for the killing.
Rajo Singh, a two-term Congress mp from Begusarai and six-time member of Bihar assembly was an accused in the killing of nine RJD workers, including the then district RJD President Kashi Nath Yadav in 2001 and was on bail.
Shambu Yadav was arrested on September Nine from his residence in Sheikhpura, while others named accused in the case, including Ashok Choudhury, were evading arrest.
