Film veteran Dev Anand turns 82, fans celebrate Monday, September 26 2005 15:04 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
Seldom has it happened that an actor's life can be represented by a song from one of his films, but for Dev Anand, who turned 82 today (Sept 26, 2005), the song 'Main Zindagi Ka Saath Nibhata Chala Gaya' from his film 'Hum Dono' has come to epitomize the principle of his exemplary life.
Unlike other stars, who cozy up with close relatives and friends at an unknown destinations, the actor who has been in the film industry for six decades now, was busy doing just that on his birthday.
The occasional early morning tourist at the Gateway of India and many others in the area woke up to a beautiful morning surprised to see their favourite star busy shooting for his soon to be released film 'Mr Prime Minister'.
The ever-energetic producer-director, who has produced such blockbusters like 'Guide' and `Hare Rama Hare Krishna' under his banner 'Navketan', was busy filming a rap song,
which he has written and sung himself.
Thronged by fans, some of less than half his age, Anand never showed signs of tiredness during the shooting for the sequence, which started since morning and continued through the scorching afternoon heat even as the young extras were sweating.
The agile actor, however, did not disappoint his fans and accepted greetings from them with his charismatic smile.
