Second phase of civic voting in Kerala under way

Thiruvananthapuram: Brisk polling was reported in the initial hours as the final phase of voting to local bodies covering six northern districts of Kerala began this morning (Sept 26, 2005).

Long voters' queues were seen in politically sensitive Kannur and Malappuram districts since the start of the polling.

Other districts where voting is being held in the second phase are Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kasargode.

The first phase of polls in eight southern districts were held on Septmeber 24, 2005.

Counting will take place tomorrow.
