Jet Airways await USDoT approval for flights to US Wednesday, September 28 2005 12:59 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
Announcing that it had fulfilled all requirements for USDoT approval to start flight operations to the United States (US), Jet Airways yesterday (Sept 27, 2005) said it expected the approval from the authorities shortly.
Commenting on status of US operations, Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal said at the airline's annual body meeting, "We have already been designated by the Government of
India and our operating permit has been endorsed."
"In response to baseless allegations levelled against the airline in US and queries raised by the authorities there, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has already submitted favourable recommendation which is being processed by Minister of External Affairs," Goyal told shareholders.
"We have fulfilled all requirements for the USDoT approval and as per advice from our US counsel, we expect to receive USDoT approval shortly," Goyal said.
A US-based company has alleged in a US court that Jet Airways has links with an underworld don, a charge denied by the airline.
