Jet Airways yesterday (Sept 27, 2005) announced its decision to expand its fleet by inducting ten 737 Boeing aircraft on key domestic routes, ten airbus 330 aircraft for
Asian and European destinations and ten Boeing 777 aircraft for longer haul destinations, including UK and USA.
Addressing the 13th annual general body meeting of the airline and the first AGM after IPO, its Chairman Naresh Goyal said Jet Airways continued to maintain leadership in domestic market with an estimated market share of 42.9 per cent during 2004-2005.
Jet Airways has ordered ten Boeing 737 next generation aircraft for delivery between March 2006 and October 2007 and the airline would additionally lease three Boeing 737 aircraft to support domestic operations, Goyal told shareholders.
The airline has also placed orders for ten airbus 330 aircraft to meet the needs for Asian and European destinations and for ten Boeing 777 aircraft for longer haul destinations
including UK and USA besides additionally leasing two new airbus 330 aircraft for its international operations, Goyal said.
