4 jawans killed in gunbattle against infiltrators

Srinagar: Four army jawans were killed and one was injured in a gunbattle with a group of infiltrators in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir last evening (Sept 29, 2005), officials said.

Two of the infiltrators were also believed to have been killed in the gunfight but there was no official confirmation.

The officials said troops noticed some ultras trying to sneak into India from across the border and challenged them.

In the ensuing exchange of fire in Macchil sector, four army jawans were killed, they said.
