Muzaffarpur:
An FIR was today (Oct 02, 2005) registered against controversial Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Mohammad Shahabuddin and 10 others in the 'appearance' of the elusive MP for an examination at Muzaffarpur even as a nation-wide alert has been sounded for him.
FIR has been registered with the Kazi Mohammadpur police station here against Shahabuddin, Principal of the local RDS College Mohammad Tauheed Alam, B R Ambedkar University Examination Controller Upendra Mishra and eight others, DIG (Tirhut Range) Gupteshwar Pandey told sources.
Pandey said the FIR against Shahabuddin and others had been lodged under different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including section 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 470 (forged documents) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document).
The DIG said in the preliminary investigation of the police it had come into light that the MP did not himself appeared in LLB part II examination at RDS College as candidate from S K Memorial Silver Jubilee Law College, Muzaffarpur, but somebody else wrote examinations for him after forging examinations documents like admit card, attendance sheet and others.
Incidently, Ratan Sanjay, Superintendent of Police of Muzaffarpur, who as Siwan police chief launched a campaign against Shahabuddin, is carrying the inquiry into 'appearance' of Shahabuddin for the examination on Thursday (Sept 29, 2005).
Pandey said, "It's impossible that somebody like Shahabuddin will come, take the examination and do the vanishing act without getting noticed".
The MP was not physically present at the examination centre, but somebody else wrote examination on his behalf after 'forging' documents, he said adding a thorough probe is into the entire episode.
He said the Controller of Examination, Invigilators and other university and college staff responsible for holding the examination were questioned on the issue by the police.
The Bihar police had recently sounded a country-wide alert for Siwan MP Shahabuddin, who is evading arrest in a number of cases relating to seizure of illegal firearms, unaccounted foreign currency, stolen vehicles and a deer during a raid on his Pratappur house in Siwan district on April 24 this year.
