In a major haul, 11.35 kgs of heroin, worth Rs 11.3 crore in the international illicit market, has been seized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officers in Bangalore leading to the arrest of four persons, a senior NCB official said here yesterday (Oct 01, 2005).
The narcotic substance was being transported from Rajasthan and was bound for Sri lanka via Bangalore, NCB South Zone Director Shankar Jiwal said here in a release adding that this was the first seizure of heroin in Karnataka this year.
The seizure was made from a lorry, following a tip-off, at Madanayakanahalli on Bangalore-Tumkur national highway on Thursday.
Four persons Ramesh Chand Patidar of Jhalawar, Nirmal Kumar Rathore and Gopal from Neemach and Srinivasa Rao from Vijayawada were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody. Two of them were lorry crew, he said.
With this, the zone has seized about 87 kgs of heroin and arrested 60 persons, including 20 Sri Lankans, so far this year, he added.
