Police seal LLB test papers of RJD MP Shahabuddin
Monday, October 3 2005 16:17 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Muzaffarpur (Bihar): The police have seized the answer papers of LLB Part II examination of controversial Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Mohammad Shahabuddin who appeared on all the eight days inspite of a nationwide alert for him.

The answer scripts from September 21 to September 28 with role number 1615 bearing the name of the MP have been acquired from the B R Ambedkar University examination department and sealed for investigation, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Tirhut range) Gupteshwar Pandey told PTI.

A FIR was lodged yesterday with Kazi Mohammadpur police station after the RJD leader appeared for the law examination here.

The police have launched a search for 21 persons, including the MP, the principal of local RDS College Mohammad Tauheed Alam and others named in the FIR. All are absconding.

The police have registered cases under different sections of the IPC, including section 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 120 b (criminal conspiracy) and 419 (punishment for cheating by personation) against those named in the FIR.

Shahabuddin is on the run since the police issued a countrywide alert against him two months ago for non-bailable warrants of arrest pending against him relating to seizure of illegal firearms, unaccounted foreign currency, stolen vehicles and a deer during raids on his Pratappur ancestral house on April 24.
