London: In an effort to give a further boost to the Indo-UK ties, a high-level British parliamentary delegation led by Lord Swraj Paul will be paying a nine-day visit to India from Saturday (Oct 08, 2005) to hold talks with leaders on steps to enhance bilateral trade and issues relating to energy security and global warming.

Besides holding interaction with Indian parliamentarians in New Delhi, the seven-member British delegation will be travelling to Jaipur and Mumbai during its stay in India.

International terrorism, foreign direct investment and latest developments in the Indo-Pak ties are also expected to come up for discussions during the interaction the delegation would be having with the Indian leaders and parliamentarians. The visiting delegation will call on President A P J Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and hold discussions with Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh, Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

In Jaipur, the British parliamentarians will meet Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil and Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and a cross section of the state legislators.

In Mumbai, they will meet Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna and Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Besides Lord Paul, also Ambassador for Overseas British Investment, the British delegation comprises Roberta Blackman-Woods, James Duddridge, Helen Jones, Lynne Jones, Peter Luff and Andrew Tuggey.
