BJP demands security review after attack on Prasad Thursday, October 6 2005 19:24 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today (Oct 6, 2005) demanded a security review in Bihar after its leader and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was shot at in Nokha, saying the incident symbolised 'complete lawlessness' in the state.
"This attack is a symbol of a total collapse of law and order in Bihar. We, therefore, urge the Election Commission to order a security review in the state," BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley said at the daily briefing here.
His remarks came after an unidentified gunman shot at Prasad during a party election meeting in the state.
Prasad, who suffered a bullet injury in the arm, was flown to Sasaram for treatment.
Jaitley recalled that the bomb attack on former BJP Chief M Venkaiah Naidu's helicopter after it crash-landed in Gaya had also occurred in the first phase of campaign during the last elections in Bihar.
