CWC team visits Biligundalu to assess Cauvery flow Thursday, October 6 2005 19:21 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Dharmapuri (TN):
After visiting Biligundalu where the Cauvery enters Tamil Nadu, a team of Central Water Commission (CWC) officials today (Oct 6, 2005) said one more assessment would be done on November 5 to 'account' the flow of Cauvery water in Tamil Nadu.
The CWC has been assessing the Cauvery river water flow in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for the past four days.
The team measured the river flow by various instruments through a propeller boat and checked the measurements, which is being taken daily by the river water gauge centre functioning at Biligundalu. The measurement was taken in three places where the Cauvery enters.
After completing the assessment, Senior CWC official Er Prabhakaran said a hi-tech measurement technique would be implemented to assess the flow of Cauvery water from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu to avoid variations in calculations and the 'out-moded apparatus' should be removed.
The team is led by CWCS Superintending Engineer (Bangalore) Er Prabhakaran.
Water resouce experts from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry are also accompanying Prabhakaran.
The final report would be submitted to the Centre, Prabhakaran said.
