EC should provide security to all candidates: BJP Thursday, October 6 2005 17:31 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Raipur:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today (Oct 6, 2005) demanded intervention of the Election Commission to provide security to all candidates in Bihar after former Union Minister Ravishanker Prasad was shot and wounded at an election meeting.
"This is a serious matter and the Election Commission should intervene to see that political parties, their candidates and workers are protected well," BJP Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here.
He said if this could happen with a former Union Minister, the situation with the ordinary campaigner could be well understood.
Naidu said he was in touch with Prasad, who is out of danger.
