'PM should pay price for Bihar assembly dissolution' Friday, October 7 2005 16:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Hailing the Supreme Court's ruling that the dissolution of the Bihar Assembly was unconstitutional, National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Convenor George Fernandes today (Oct 7, 2005) said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should 'pay the price' for the decision and hoped the Apex Court would come out with a statement on the role of Governor Buta Singh.
"The Supreme Court has put its stamp on the truth (by its judgement)," Fernandes said here.
However, the Janata Dal (JD) United (U) leader said he would have preferred that the original Assembly was revived as elections 'cost a lot of money for candidates'.
"(But) the Judges, in their wisdom, have taken a decision and we accept it," he said.
Fernandes said he was sure that the apex Court had considered the 'lies and looting' by the Governor and hoped it would come out with a statement on his role.
"But since the decision was endorsed by the Cabinet, the Prime Minister should pay the price for it," he said.
