Bihar Assembly dissolution order to be heard today
Friday, October 7 2005 09:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The Supreme Court is likely to pronounce today (Oct 07, 2005) its interim order on a bunch of petitions challenging the dissolution of Bihar Assembly on the basis of the controversial reports of Governor Buta Singh that would clear the position whether the assembly elections would go ahead as scheduled.

A Constitution Bench had reserved its orders on the malafides alleged against the Governor in giving reports to the Centre leading to dissolution of the Bihar Assembly.

The five-judge Bench comprising Justice Y K Sabharwal, Justice K G Balakrishnan, Justice B N Agarwal, Justice Ashok Bhan and Justice Arijit Pasayat while reserving its order had kept open the option of reviving the assembly when it had said it could pass a short order before October 18, the first phase of the polls, if it wants to quash the Presidential proclamation dissolving the House.
