Ravishanker shifted to Delhi, attacker still in coma
Friday, October 7 2005 17:01 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Union minister Ravishanker Prasad, who was injured in yesterday's (Oct 6, 2005) attack at an election rally, is being shifted to Delhi for treatment.

His assailant Munna Rai alias Hulchul Rai is still in a coma and battling for survival.

''Prasad's condition is stable and there is no cause for alarm,'' Dr Narendra Prasad, an eminent surgeon, who is attending on him at a private nursing home, told sources.

He said that the BJP leader, who had received gunshot injury in his left arm, had suffered multiple fractures and the doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi will decide on the future course of treatment.

Meanwhile, the Patna Medical College and Hospital deputy superintendent, Ashok Singh, said that a CT scan was performed on Munna Rai this morning to ascertain the exact extent of injury and the report was still awaited.

The man had received serious head injuries and the doctors were doing their best to save his life, Singh said.

Rai was shifted to PMCH from Sasaram under police escort last night.
