Devotees expected to rush Tirupati for festival

Tirupati: A heavy rush of devotees is expected for the 'Garudaseva', the fifth day of the nine-day annual Brahmostsvam festival at the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara near here, on Saturday night (Oct 8, 2005).

A large of number of traditional musical troupes from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Gujarat and Maharashtra are also expected to take part in the celestial procession that would last four hours from 2100 hrs.

Temple sources told PTI that in accordance with the centuries old custom, a pair of sacred garlands from the shrine of Goddess Sri Andal in Srivilliputtur in Tamil Nadu reached Tirumala temple on the eve of 'Garudaseva'.
