British parliamentary delegation to view Ram Leela

London: The high-level British parliamentary delegation visiting India under the leadership of NRI industrialist Lord Swraj Paul from tomorrow (Oct 08, 2005) will witness 'Ram Leela' in Delhi and visit some rural schools in Charkhi Dadri in Haryana during the nine-day visit.

Besides, meeting President A P J Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and several union ministers, the delegation will visit the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikhi in Agra.

The parliamentarians will witness Ram Leela in Delhi on Monday and Dusshehra festivities at the Amber Fort in Jaipur on Wednesday.

It will be a sentimental journey for Lord Paul when he visits along with other members of the delegation Charki Dadri, the birth place of his mother in Haryana.

His oldest brother has built a school for girls there and handed it over to the state government to run. The delegates will also visit the Apeejay Saraswati Post-Graduate College where 3,000 girls are studying. The college is being run by Lord Paul's brother.

Lord Paul, who is also the Chairman of the London Olympics Delivery Committee, will inaugurate a stadium at Charkhi Dadri for which he has provided the entire funding.

In Delhi the delegation will also interact with the India-United Kingdom Parliamentary Friendship Group on an array of issues including trade and investment.

Besides Lord Paul, who is also ambassador for Overseas British Business, other members of the delegation are Roberta Blackman-Woods, James Duddridge, Helen Jones, Lynne Jones, Peter Luff and Andrew Tuggey, Secretary General of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, UK.
