Jet is India's first airline to have web check-in
Monday, October 10 2005 18:02 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: Jet Airways today (Oct 10, 2005) became the country's first airline to introduce a distinctive online facility of web check-in for its passengers.

This specialized facility is currently available for passengers holding a confirmed and valid E-ticket, anytime between 48 hours and 60 minutes prior to their flight departure, in 29 of the airline's destinations across India, Chief Operating Officer of Jet Airways, Peter Luethi, told reporters here.

"With this, Jet Airways has introduced yet another pioneering initiative that allows customers not only to select their preferred seat but also to print their boarding pass for their same day return flight on website," he said.

After successfully launching online bookings where passengers can book, pay and print their E-ticket on the web, Jet Airways, now with the help of new technology goes a step further to provide maximum convenience and comfort to its customers, Luethi said.

This web check-in application has been developed by Sabre Airline Solution, leading airline solutions provider based in the United States. This has been further customized for Jet Airways at their development center in Bangalore.

Later, talking to reporters informally, Luethi said Jet Airways may go in for acquisition looking at the changing aviation scenario.

On media reports hinting that Jet Airways was planning to buy controlling stake in Air Sahara, he said he was not aware of any such plans.
