Gov Buta accepts SC's judgement with 'humility' Tuesday, October 11 2005 12:38 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Amid National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) demand for his ouster, Bihar Governor Buta Singh today (Oct 11, 2005) accepted the Apex Court's judgement declaring as 'unconstitutional' the Presidential proclamation dissolving the state assembly, with a 'deep sense of humility' saying it should be respected.
"The Apex Court's judgement is supreme and acceptable to all", was the terse reaction of Singh in his first face-to-face with media persons in front of Raj Bhavan after he flagged off trucks carrying small relief packs for the earthquake victims of Kashmir and Pakistan arranged by Indian Red Cross Society (Bihar).
He avoided questions by media men who sought to know whether he would resign owning moral responsibility for the dissolution of the house and boarded his car driving straight to the Raj Bhavan portico.
According to Raj Bhavan sources, the Governor was likely to leave for New Delhi later today by a service flight to meet a comatose relative at a hospital.
During his stay, the Governor may meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home minister Shivraj Patil.
The sources claimed that the governor had decided to wait for the full order of the Supreme Court before deciding what to do.
Singh despatched 1,000 small relief packs each containing dhoti, sari, towels besides 500 such packs to Pakistan Red Crescent society in Islamabad for quake-hit victims.
Chief secretary G S Kang, who was also present, said the Governor had contributed rupees ten thousand from his personal fund for the quake-hit victims.
