Madhya Pradesh: No threat to CM post, says Gaur Wednesday, October 12 2005 14:30 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bhopal:
Unfazed by reports emanating from Delhi about possible change of guard in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Babulal Gaur today (Oct 12, 2005) said he saw no threat to his post in near future as he enjoyed the support of BJP's central leadership.
"These are all rumours and no heed should be paid to the reports (on leadership change). I am not bothered as such reports often crop up in politics," Gaur told reporters here.
Stating that contradictory reports about leadership issue in the state have appeared, the Chief Minister said the matter was neither discussed nor considered by the party nor was any information on it disseminated.
Infact, party General Secretary Arun Jaitley has denied reports about leadership change, he said.
Claiming to be enjoying the full backing of the central leadership, Gaur said senior leaders including former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee have asked him to firmly stick to the post and carry out the duties.
Asked whether he would continue to hold the top post till the next assembly elections, he said "I will remain in office as long as my luck favours".
Gaur said he has been in constant contact with senior party leaders, who have asked him to participate in election campaign in Bihar and that he would be able to spend a few days in the poll-bound state for electioneering.
The leadership issue was not mentioned by central leaders during his interaction with them, he said.
